MEOWYs' idea would cut the reeds' speed in half which would allow themto operate in more of their comfort zone. There are other problems associated with joining cylinders that would negate any gains that can be hoped from allowing the reeds more dwell time. The bar has been set pretty high already by the TD and its' rotary valve. I can make the rotary valve engine spin faster just by removing some of its' load, whereas with a reed engine, it will be governed by how fast the reed can buzz.
