Please tell if I need any new parts for this engine or tell me if this is normal wear and tear and I shouldn't worry about it not holding pressure. I also made a gasket out of silicon and paper for the backplate.

Your note didn't state what "normal wear and tear" is that you're asking about.
If the engine won't draw fuel when it's choked (throttle wide open), then there's a pressure leak somewhere. There should be noticeable suction when you open the throttle wide, put your finger over the carb, and turn the prop in the normal running direction. You should also have good compression feel.
If debris got into the engine when it crashed, and managed to be run through the engine, then the clearances could have eroded enough to reduce the pumping action of the engine.
