Attention JetCat Owners
When hooking up the battery to your JetCat ECU do not put a switch in series with it. The battery should be plugged in straight to the ECU with no other connections in line. There can be times when the pump can spike (for a brief second) up to and greater than 40 amps. Most switches cannot take this load and a powerfail will occur. A powerfail will shut your engine down every time. It is a failue mode that tells the ECU the aircraft has lost power. When this happens the ECU is programmed to shut down.
We found this in one aircraft at LA Jets this last weekend, and have reviewed the manual. It does not state you cannot put a switch in there, but then again it does not state that you can. All engines leaving JetCat USA from today on (03/29/05) will have an addendum in the manual stating not to install a switch in line on the battery cables. The manual will be updated immediately.
Once again, do not install a switch of any type in line on the battery wires.
If you have one installed, please remove it immediately.
Thanks,
