RE: tiger moth 400 durability
I have a GWS Tiger Moth 400. It's a fun flyin' plane with the stock motor and a 3 cell Lipo 1500mah battery.
It's built to fly, not crash! I would have to rate its crash durability at about 6 on a scale of 1 to 10. After all, its just expanded bead polystryene foam. There is a 3mm fiberglass rod in the lower wing that really helps the wing stay in one piece. The only mishap I've had is when the battery pack fell out during inverted flight one time. the battery stayed connected and just sort of hung there. When I rolled back upright the battery was hanging off the T.E. of the lower wing which really moved the C.G. aft. It was a hand full getting back on the ground. The only damage was a small nick the back edge of the lower wing right against the fuse were the battery cable cut in. Thank heaven for Dean Ultra connectors. I'm also using the light foam GWS wheels rather than the ones that came with it. Makes the plane look a lot nicer.
