Just a couple of suggestions because it's what you're considering as a second plane.
You should use a thicker airfoil. It'll provide more lift, more drag, and result in a plane that will fly slower, and more importantly, land slower. The second wing planform (with the tapered trailing edge) would also reduce the wing loading, and that would also help the flight characteristics for a newer pilot.
Third, the nose may be a bit long which could make balancing a little tough. It might also be difficult to squeeze an engine in there.
