RE: U-Can-Do 3d 46?
I put the finishing touches on my new UCD.46 over the weekend, so next weekend will probably be the big day, weather permitting. I do have a question about programming the radio, however. I installed a new Airtronics RD8000 and while I have all of the control surfaces moving properly, I'm not totally happy with the setup. Here's the problem:
With the dual aileron servos plugged into channels 2 and 6 and the transmitter FLAPE feature activated, I get proper aileron movement. As per the Airtronics manual, I have the servo control horns pointing towards the wing tips. The problem is that when I hit the flap switch, the ailerons go up, not down. Now, the Airtronics manual says this problem can be corrected by simply changing the polarity of the EPA settings. Maybe so, but not on my particular RD8000. The EPA will not go negative. So, I just them to 0 for now so the flaps won't move when the flap switch is moved.
The second problem is with the dual elevator servos. I have them connected to the receiver with a Y adapter. The servo on the left works as shown in the plans, but the right servo moves the elevator backwards if I install the pushrod and control horn as shown in the plans. For now, I moved the control horn to the opposite side of the servo. This works, but the pushrod now has an odd angle to it and just barely clears the horizontal stab.
Any thoughts?
