You need to buy a receiver crystal that is made for the receiver. The frequency number should match the frequency of the transmitter. Since you said the plane came without electronics, I guess you will also need servos, switch harness, receiver battery, etc. By the time you add up the price of these things, you will find that you will spend as much, or possibly more, than a new 4 channel system. So, since you said you might eventually switch to another brand, I suggest that you give serious thought to making the switch now.
