New flyers that think that clubs are a waste of time and money don't understand how they work. You would learn more in 2 hours with an instructor than in 6 months of reading RC airplane forums. Training is free when you join the club and strongly suggested! The club fees are minimal and it nice to have like minded people to share your hobby with. We have fun fly events with free corn, hotdogs, pop, and burgers where the rest of the family can come out and watchand as you mentioned it would be more enjoyable with the family. My 2cents.
