If you look at the whole spectrum of engine / model sizes and their popularity, it follows a bell curve. The back bone of this hobby is the .40-.60 size stuff, and size wise this stuff is pretty much in the middle too. There is a feeling of power that most guys in this hobby crave that 1/2A doesn't fullfill, otherwise you would see more guys flying the small stuff. Us 1/2A guys take alot of what we've learned about this little stuff for granted, and what we consider user friendly is still very critical to a more casual or inexperienced hobbyist. At the fields around here, 1/2A is considered a cute curiosity and the guys get a kick out of seeing them in action.
