Well splat! After Wayne let me fly his I had to get one of my own. Here I go again building the 4th airplane this year. This is the Sledge 540 by Jeff Williams and kitted by Morris Homos.
I'll start by saying the kit was very well packed, has nice looking wood and includes most of the hardware like all the other Morris kits. This one however has all laser cut parts including the wing ribs. It comes with a nice little step by step build up that Jeff wrote which is pretty detailed however the plans themselves are lacking alot of information compaired to the others I've built. Either way it's no problem if you've got a few kits under your belt.
You start by building the wing. It has a flat leading edge but tapered on the trailing edge and also tapered to the wing ends. This makes for an interesting build but if you take your time you shouldn't have any problems. The one thing I didn't like right from the start was having to build the wing in two pieces. I'd prefer to see a one piece wing with a constant spar however that's just my own opinion.
Here are my pictures so far. I have both wing halves framed up and ready for the sheeting. So far it's a very fast build...
