if your instructor will take you on the buddy box, then i don't see why you would not want to put on the brushless setup. just make sure that the brushless is fit for the trainer. you can ask your instructor his suggestion. $25 is cheaper than cheap and may not be enough power for the trainer. what kind of brushless and controller?
