If it's a 4.4 it must be a Husqvarna conversion..Can't be too bad if the crank and cylinder are original Husky.....
Someone once made a 4.4 engine with a machined case, that had a reed valve on the bottom of the case....The original piston port intake port was covered with a plate and the cylinder was opened up all the way to the bottom to use that as an extra transfer port..Worked well, buth the sharp edges of the cylinder wall would cut into the piston ring...If yours is one of these it would be a good idea to slightly round off the sharp edges...
