goldenclan... Yes the wood props sure are a lot lighter, taking a lot of
load off the engine and reducing spool up time.. I tried wood props
before and liked it, but it seemed that something would always happen
to take a little wood off of them, be it me or the pebbles on the runway.
Matter fact on our fly in, on about my 4th flight I set the plane on the
runway do my normal run up of the engine and hear a pebble being
thrown... After landing I see a gouge in the prop:-(... But it still works,
but getting an order for another one along with a higher pictched one..
Liberator... I've told a few people the same about the UCD as a trainer
only bad thing... She won't take much abuse:-(
Barry... Let us know how the lowering of your runway goes, I can't see
why some sort of concession be made to your simple request!!... I also
put that question to my club after my flat spin landing... They told me it
was not the runway's fault, and that I was just a bit too far out, And the
next time to stay in towards the runway a bit more where they had
requested and received the run-off wash, just off the side of the runway
for exactly the purpose of a ditched flat spin landing and to give more
ground clearance to better pull out.... So our club works with us on things
as such, As we speak, their working on getting us stands so as to see the
plane better once it goes below ground level in the wash....

Man I
just love this Club!!!
