Default RE: U-Can-Do 3d 46?

radieron. I must say there are a lot of airplanes out there. And part of the fun is to build one and get it as good as you can and then do another one. It's part of the diease, eh, or, a, hobby. Anyways, I consider you a friend and I couldn't recommend the F90 to anybody, but least of all my friends. I know there are a dozon threads telling everybody how great this plane is, but if you read deep enough you will find that nobody is flying it with the recommended engine and it is pathatic how overweight it is. And if flys like crap or at least lands like crap. I'm not the best pilot but I can land all my planes pretty good. This is so far off it is joke. After all the extensive work I put into this plane. I lightened it almost 1/2 lbs, went to the YS 110 engine, reinforced the landing gear, reinforeced the tail feathers, changed the tail wheel, and the landing gear. Went to high torque servos, rebalance to the perfect 7" recommended spot, introduced a lilttle down thrust with the engine. After all that I couldn't tell any difference. And all the video I've ever seen of this plane shows flying and then some sort of harrier landing. I didn't give up on it easy. I flew this plane for over 50 flights. I didn't have one good landing. I flew it with a Saito 150 early on and then retired it because I hated it. Then I rebuilt it with the 110 and still hated it. Anyways, you've all probably read all my posts elsewhere on this plane. And I don't want to bash it. But I have an honest, objective opinion and I have several same class planes to compare it to and I couldn't recommend it to anybody. Life is too short to fly that plane. And it doesn't do anything better than other similar planes. There is a lot out there that is good. Why bother with this pig.
On a positive note, I can whole heartedly recommend the Mayhem 3D. That is one of my favorite planes. Mine weighs 7lbs 10oz with the 110 on board. It has a wider wingspan then the F90 and it flys better and lands, lands.., lands...well it lands just like a UCD. Need I say more. I would recommend the Mayhem over the UCD 60. I think it flys better, but in fairness, I think the UCD is just as "fun" to fly. But the Mayhem does everything better, cleaner except for hover where the UCD is better. The Mayhem is kinda of a sleeper and not to many people have one. And if you buy it from Tower you usually can get the price down to $189. And get this...they actually have them in stock.
I have high hopes for the showtime, but obviously I don't have much of an opinion yet.
Anyways, sorry for the F90 bashing and sorry to make so many posts. I know most have more to offer than me and I can be long winded and passionate about things.
Thanks,
Barry
