I hope I can get some help on this. Since summer came and I am bored of flying small electrics I would like to fly a bigger, glow powered airplane. Although I like to build very much I will have very little time this summer so I would like to fly instead of building.

What I have in mind is an ARF Great Planes P51 Mustang with 0.25LA engine. here is the link :

What do you think about the combo?

Not: However I am not sure. This thing is 3ch only . Actually I would love to try an OS 40 LA or a powerhouse like OS 45AX however I am not sure what plane is a good choice for this.
I can't get the link to work, but it sounds like you're speaking of the the Combat P51, a one-twelfth scale plane for hand launch, no landing gear, and no rudder. This plane would be excellent for an experienced glow flyer, and the .25 LA would be adequate.

If you have experience with FAST low wing handlaunch electrics, this might not surprise you. However, if your experience is of the slowflyer-in-a-park variety, my fear is that with a quick combat plane you would expect to go to your park and fly it, fling this thing in the air, and find it so unfamiliar that it would be destroyed, or worse.

If your experience is of the slowflyer variety, I would suggest you find a club and pick up a high wing training plane with some aerobatic capabilty, first. For example, the LT-25, LT-40, the Avistar and others have excellent aerobatic capabilty, with reasonable stability, plus they're 4 channel with landing gear. Clubs, with experienced flyers, can often provide a "try it out" flight, offer help setting your plane up, find problems before you fly, and maintain a flying facility with plenty of room for mistakes.

Just my 2ยข worth,
Dave Olson

Thanks A lot. I am NOT planning to fly this bird in public(or at least not in any park ) I am going to move to a different city and I will have plenty of empty space near the city where nothing more then farms exists. Also I have experience with my homebuilt low wing hand launched planes(Built a me109 and a mustang and I found my mustang much more stable) their wingloading was %40 of this plane. So I will fly in a safe location. Also so far I have flew my planes (even the faster ones ) in quite small fields so I think I can handle a little bit faster ones in larger areas.

However I didn't realized that this bird didn't have any landing gear. I can handlaunch 500gram planes easily but for a 1.2 kg plane mistakes can be pricey. Do you suggest me to go for 0.40 size planes with landing gear? Also how noisy and user friendly are the 0.25LA and 0.15LA and 0.40LA and 0.46AX?

Thanks again
