If you want a low wing plane with landing gear, I think it would be wise to go with at least a .40. Great planes offers a number of nice ones, as do other manufacturers. Two of my students have had great luck with the LA 40 and LA 46. The FX or AX ball bearing engines are faster, but I don't think that's an issue for you, from what you've said.

You could probably handlaunch that combat plane, but it sounds like you want a 4 channel unit - and I endorse that.
