I think for the dollar, the Venus from Great Planes is a pretty good choice. It's certainly a capable little devil. i'm going to finish this year with one then maybe try something like a Quest.
The thing that's nice about these two models is that it won't break the bank to get into this type of airplane, and this type of flying. maybe the Excelleron would also be a good one... The review in rc modeler was pretty good, but then again I have never seen a review that says the plane is any less than excellent. I know the Quest and Excelleron are 90 size, but still are very affordable.
