Post #74 shows what I would call a vertical servo install and is the way you did it. You just made the plate too big. It can be done the other way (horiz) but I believe this is easier to do. If you are asking "Why not turn them 90 sideways in the plate?", This way gives better leverage without the servo "rocking" in it's mount. Otherwise it could be done to the best of my knowledge.

If you decide to work on the old wing, be advised that MinnFlyer is working on a drawing for you to show how to repair a spar. It is a spar, stringers go in a fuselage. It's one of those "thingy" things.
