Default four star 60 building question

I posted this in Kit building, but wanted to try here too.

Question is about the ailerons on the four star 60. How would it effect the flight performance if the ailerons are a little thicker than the trailing edge of the wing?

I've contoured the back and sanded roughly a 30 deg angle on the leading edge of the ailerons, but when I tape them to the wings per instructions for mounting the horns, they are a little wider than the trailing edge of the wing. (maybe I should say thicker in height) They aren't much, but when I place a straight edge on the bottom, the are up, and when I place a straight edge on the top of the wing the stick up.

Being taped to the wing isn't to accurate, but it's enough to tell me this much.

Should I sand them down, or does it matter much?

BTW, My first kit if you hadn't noticed.

Thanks for the help.
