Mine is in transit to me from Tower....I am told that they do NOT have the optional external antenna.....and... they would not accept a back order for it, unless I agreed to buy 12 of them. What's that all about?
I suppose it would be a simple matter to just open the case...find the antenna land on the circuit board...and solder on a handy 39 inch piece of flexible 24 gauge wire....just like all the receivers have.
I don't expect to have the performance of the very pricey Icom scanner, but for 50 bucks, if it does recognize the active transmitters at my field, it'll be a handy addition to my field box.
And after all, this is a wonderfully gadget intensive sport.
