Default RE: Prop Scrapes

Dave:
It’s been my experience that really tight engines tend to stop at top dead center most of the time and well broken in ones tend to cycle through TDC and stop just coming up on compression. All my best well broken in engines usually will not stay at TDC if I manually put them there. They snap off compression one way or the other. So I set my prop so it’s not vertical no matter which of the two ways it stops. Breaking wood props is the reason I am in favor of the black prop. I know at the PHX JR Bruce Coffey and the 3 or four guys running his props went through something like 20 props. Way to much work for me. I know several guys who almost never break a wood prop no matter where it stops but they land much smoother than I do.

Good Luck
Barry
