Tim:

Not meaning to interrupt, however I will:

AMA Web: >>>>"An AMA Air Show Team is an organized group of AMA members that is dedicated to building new aircraft, creating new acts, practicing and presenting the world of model aviation to the public through an entertaining and informative performance.

The Air Show Team Program is administered through the Academy of Model Aeronautics Headquarters. Air Show Teams are expected to follow written guidelines and regulations to qualify for existing benefits. If you would like more information about the program and how to form a team, contact Erin Dobbs, AMA Headquarters, 5161 East Memorial Drive, Muncie IN 47302 or by phone at (765) 287-1256, ext. 272."

AMA Safety Code:
>>>" 8. I will not operate model aircraft carrying pyrotechnic devices which explode, burn, or propel a projectile of any kind. //SNIP//
Officially designated AMA Air Show Teams (AST) are authorized to use devices and practices as defined within the Air Show Advisory Committee Document."

AMA Air Show teams do have some special dispensation. While I am not overly aware of any written word, I do believe that if any group presented a decent game plan showing reasonable precautions, and due considerations, AMA would very likely endorse any special operation.

My Club was very involved in WarBird Racing much like the SWRA. Our field layout does not provide for the space under the safety distances currently specified.
The Club prepared a Cautionary Plan, presented it in a text and graphical format, and received a waiver for all our races.

Sometimes ya' jus' gotta' ask!
