runover1. Sorry about your loss. That is weird. I have had 4 UCDs and haven't had anything come apart and I fly them pretty hard. My fail for other reasons. It's a shame you are going to deprive yourself of one of the truly FUN airplanes on the market because of this problem. But I understand your opinion. I had the same thing with the Funtana. Best day I've had in this hobby was when I gave it away.
gjeffers. Yes. I'm flying the UCD46. Flew it 5-13 minute flights today. Strong wind. I'd guess it to be about 20 knots. Give or take .6. Anyways I had forgot how much I missed the blue and white checkerboard. What a fun day. And contrary to what runover1 says, I can KE mine until the sun won' shine. It also does a nice KE coupling. I love it. I did some outstanding hovers for me. I'd say in the 30-60 second range with a torque roll or two. I haven't flown one of these in about 8 months and yet it felt like I flew it yesterday. What an old friend. Literally the only trimming I had to do was 3 clicks of right aileron. Everything else was spot on. Man I just had a great time. The landings were a little tricky because of the wind but I just dialed in a bit of spoileron and landed. No big deal. The 82 seems like the right engine but for some reason I felt like I needed more power. Didn't seem that way last year.!!!!!! Couldn't do a rising flat spin, too much wind, but I really did some good ones that were nice and flat. Also, into the wind I did some great waterfalls. She was tumbling end over end so fast I thought it was tied to itself. And I did great KE with it. Even into the wind was able to use elevator, not that much really, (no mix) and go the entire length of the runway, but then again, our runway is only 600 feet long. Better to the right than the left for some reason. I just had a great day. What a nice, FUN airplane. It doesn't do everything the best but it does everything and for some reason, it just more fun with a UCD.
Thanks,
Barry
