Hi All! I have been using the tail volume calculation to find the CG point expresed in a % at the MAC.
I have been using this formula for mono planes (War birds mainl, with no problems).
I am now venturing in WW1 By planes and read someware that I can use the same formula but I have to use 1/2 the tail area and for a byplane.
Q? is this correct?
Firmula used is the following :
CG= Tail area/Wing Area x Arm at the 1/4 or MAC for wing and tail/ Average Cord
Additionaly I have used the
following one found in the SCALE international mag May/june 2003
Balance point = Average cord of both wings stagered or not (projected from the top view)/7 + 3 x 1/2 Area of the stabiliser x Arm between the quarter points between the average cords / 8 x Area of the wing (Biplanes use the projected area).
Any coments welcomed !
