RE: CRAZY IDEA!!!!!!!!!
Any updates, have you been able to get the system to work? I'm out of school now so I'll start experimenting to see what minimal power I would need to ignite a small rocket engine.
There are a ton of trees out here so I'm not looking to launch anything, but would be great fun in a dogfight or something... need to go vertical to get more energy? Easy, light a rocket and get a quick pound of extra force for about 1.5 seconds... BOOM! there ya go! When the ejection charge hits, it will give the plane a slight speed boost again, and eject the engine out the back and reduce weight... a double positive! lol Or, if you really wanna get tricky... let the other dude get behind you, mount the engine backwards, and you have some nice thrust reversers! lol
A 1/2 A engine on a standard 3 foot foam glider (that you can get at Fred Meyers) is just enough to get one of them about 3 feet off a 55* incline... A's are enough to get the plane about 10 feet in altitude, over about a 30 foot distance before the engine quits.... and a B will about double that. So... I figure if you've got a stryker going level at max power and you can't accelerate anymore... any one of the three options should give it a significant boost, let alone in vertical flight.
Anyway... any luck with the wiring yet?
