RE: Pay it forward (Was freebie and fee engine)
Bill,
Several months back you sent me an OS .46 for my Sig Senior that I am building with my kids. The generosity and compassion of the people on this site is amazing.
I wanted to post a short update, so here goes.
The Senior is coming along slowly but surely. With Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts, Church and Vacation Bible School using all the time I'm not at work, I have only built up the sides of the fuse so far. My wife keeps telling me to just give up and fix my RC truck but I am determined to get my kids flying.
On that note I loaned the .46 to a friend to put in his Avistar, so he could teach his girls to fly. That went great! They are working on a Skybolt now. He brought the Avistar over to let my kids try it out and they had a blast. Being the "Super Dad" that I am, I took it for a few laps around the pattern. It did not end well. The kids did superb, a little nervous but otherwise great. I lost the plane in the sun and by the time I found it again, we were headed for a high speed impact with the soccer field. The front section of the fuse is gone and the wing broke in half but every thing else is fine. I was able to slam the throttle shut just before impact. I put it on a test stand and everything runs smooth.
Now when we go for a bike ride the kids all want to go to the park "Where Daddy crashed"
Just wanted to let you know I am still plodding away on my dreams of flying with my kids.
Thanks again Bill for all you do.
