RE: I NEED HELP i want to build an dirt oval car
ahh, dirt oval trucks.. I think I can help..
1.) Slam it! Get some shock limiters and drop your ride height . Get your rear end sliiiiiiiiiiightly lower, to give better forward traction.
2.) Get RPM dual stage shock pistons. These let you run firm oil, but get the wheel back down ASAP. Wheels on the ground = traction, and traction is king.
3.) Stand your right side shocks up as close to vertical as you can. Lay he left side down as much as possible. Stiffer springs on the right side are in order also.
4.) The advice above about over-gearing is potentially wrong. You want your truck geared so that it tops out about 3/4 of the way down the longest straight. If that's over geared, so be it. It can just as easily be undergeared. Gear for performance and worry about heat and run time later. Describe your track? We'll talk motors then..
5.) Body - You can get an oval specific body, but I don't bother. I put an air dam on the side of my truck body and it hangs with anyone on the track.
6.) Tires - What is your track surface? For tacky, hard packed clay, you want silicone coated foams if they're legal. If you are the first to run them, I guarantee a win every week until the other guys figure them out. If silicones aren't legal, foams and Red Dot are the ticket. On slightly more loose surfaces, Proline Striker II's are the tire of choice.
More to come.....
