RE: best foamie bipe?
For outdoor flying, the ZoomBi is my favorite bipe. It doesn't give up too much in performance to something like a 6mm profile depron bipe, but it can last lots longer and take tremendous abuse. Because people tend to abuse them so badly, they need to be equipped with outrunner motors and not gearboxes. Look for our ads on RCU, we have a good sale going on them right now.
For indoor and especially outdoor in calm weather, my favorite is a bipe called the Equalizer from e-foamies. It's an full-fuse, F3A-type depron bipe in the 7-10 oz. range, which makes it a competitor to the Quasar. The small Hacker, the Hyperion ZZ2205, the Himax 2808, the MicroDan 2505 - all are good motors for it on 3S 700-900 packs. The ZZ and Microdan are 30g motors, perfect for indoor. I'd only use the 2808 outdoors. The ZZ ends up being a good compromise in 38T configuration w/ 8X3.8 or 8040 props. Even a beginner at working w/ depron should be able to get this one below 9 oz, and at that wing loading, it flies wonderfully. It reminds me very much of the tensor, but with better tracking. This is what one would expect from the longer fuse design. It's a very smooth flier. We're expecting a shipment of them to arrive tomorrow and we should have them in stock within 24 hours.
I also like the 3DFoamy bipes for outdoors, they're tons of fun, although I haven't tried to minis yet.
