RE: Opinion on a "Something Extra by SIG
I've seen some beautiful SSE's here. Mine is the plain violet arf version.
I'm sorry if i disapoint some people, but I'm not that fond of this aircraft. To be honest, I find that the only difference in flying characteristcs from my stick is that the SSE will lomchevok, and the stick will not. Other than that, the two airplanes fly identicaly.
I've been moving the CG back little by little without any appreciable difference. I was hoping this airplane would flat -spin as well as my Sig Smith Miniplane, but I haven't been able to pull it off on the SSE. Knife edge flight has been a no-go also.
I've noticed that those who have modified the rudder seem to have better luck with the knife-edge. I think I may make that modification also.
I'm running a Saito .72 on mine, with an aftermaket landing gear designed tall enough for 4cycle use on this aircraft.
Please understand, the airplane is a wonderful flyer, maybe I was hoping it was capable of more than it is designed to do.
