Started assembling the Showtime tonight. Got the ailerons hinged. I'm using Dubro pinned hinges so it takes a little longer. Just went over everything and I'm trying to make decisions on how to build the plane. I have a tailwheel left over from my Mayhem. I was looking at it. It's the same configuration as the stock wheel, just a little bit smaller. And the way it "springs" is different, and the Sig tailwheel is a fine tailwheel so I think I'm gonna use that. It will save about 1 1/2 ozs. I also am going to use a pair of the Dubro "Super Lite" 3" wheels. I weighed these and think I can save at least 1 1/4 ozs over stock and have bigger wheels to boot. I plan on using the new APC 16.5x5W prop. I bought two of those and this will be the first plane I try them on.
I'm very impressed with the quality of this ARF. I've only been doing this for two years but I'm amazed how I've seen the quality increase over just that short tim. Very nice airplane, at least in the box.
I'm gonna order a roll of the purple Ultra Coat to seal the hinge lines with.
The cowl looks a little weird to me. I'm not sure how I'm gonna cut it out yet. Decided to take a wait and see attitude on that. The carbon fiber landing gear is beautiful to look at. I hope it holds up well. So far I haven't seen anybody having trouble with that.
I'm still debating with myself on the SFGs. I guess I owe it to the plane to at least try them. So I guess I'm gonna install them but probably not for the first few flights.
Anyways, I'm looking forward to the build.
Thanks,
Barry
