Default RE: need help geting started

Just my take on the question.

first it is a very very good idea to use a computer simulator to help you learn to fly your helicopter. Many of us on the forum have purchased the walkera #4 and have found it to be a very fun first helicopter. It is fixed pitch and it can take a lot of abuse before you spend much money on repairs. the nitro 30 and 50 helicopters are easier to fly but the risk is much higher. A lot more money spent if you make a mistake. Also a lot more money involved in getting into and maintaining the nitro heli's. plus there is much more support equipment and work involved for just a simple flight. with the electric heli you charge the batteries and plug them in. when your done, if all went well, you just unplug and recharge. not much in the way of cleaning etc. the walkera #4 usually comes with a free simulator that will help you learn to fly. there are much better ones on the market that will be more realistic when you are using them. but as usual they cost from $80 up to $200. One of the things you need to know if your going to purchase the walkera #4 is that you should replace the servos before you attempt to fly it. the Hitec HS55's are a good choice for a direct replacement. I use the GWS naro servos and have had good luck with them also. the GWS servos require a little bit of trimming to get them to fit right. if you have the time you should try a search for the walkera #4 on this forum to see what others have been doing with them. good luck.
