Exactly. And on top of that, who want's to stir up a big mess if you can be diplomatic. His hope is that he states their position on the whole thing: "Ahem, let's not be doing this! Enough said", everyone understands and people stop doing it. Diplomacy. If that doesn't work then take it to the next level.

We are in an exciting time in aviation. With the advent of lithium batteries, incredable power systems and thousands of people trying new things. The fact that we are having problems like this are good. We are exploring our freedoms (some times too much) and creating new ways to fly everyday.

Then why didn't Dave say that?
There's no liability if you tell the truth and accurately recount the incident, including naming names. IMO, Dave was afraid of the repercussions from the sponsor: possibly withdrawing advertising from MA.
