braking is good on a powered sailplane (or any plane) to reduce drag using a folding prop. sometimes mild braking settings are allowed to keep the prop from freewheeling with a subtle clamp. Hard braking should not be used typically with gearboxes...it is tough on gears. My high powered 3D planes I turn braking off and let the prop spin
