Default Bobcat

Had one of these about 3 years ago. I actually purchased the one that George Voss built for his review in RCM. I even kept the half of the wing with the RCM sticker on it.

The GP42 I had initially did not idle well inverted, and apparently Cermark had a large number of problems with this engine inverted in that plane. That is why they told me that they offered the Eagle 46, with a side or upright mount, I can't recall. The plane performed a lot better with a Saito 56 that I put in it.

I do remember having to replace the cowl, which was thin ABS, and tended to develop cracks easily.

It flew very nicely, and tracked well. I crashed mine when the engine sagged after take-off on a really hot day. It tip stalled into the woods on the downwind leg. Sheared the wing in half when it hit a big tree trunk with a really, really loud WHACKKK!! that I can still hear in my head. When I found it laying in pieces on the ground in the woods, I recall that the VOLTWATCH battery monitor was still illuminated on the side of the fuselage, claiming that it was "Safe to Fly". Pretty funny in light of the plane's condition, I thought!

Still have a couple of those crappy ACOMS servos laying around for combat duty.
