Tire choice depends greatly on what surface you are running on and what you really want to get out of your tires. That meaning, if you want a long lasting tire or the best traction.
With that in mind, for grass step pin type tires usually work the best and they are also very good for any soft surface. If you run them on very hard packed dirt or pavement you will find that they tend to wear out pretty quickly. Something more intermediate would then be better for a little longer life. A Pro-Line Bowtie or Snake Eye, or a Losi IFMAR Stud or Reptile would be good choices. These tires would still give great traction in grass but will work better on anything from hard to loose dirt. Also to maximize life of any tire, choosing the harder of the compounds availible is a wise choice. Losi silver or Pro-Line M2 or R3 are the firmer compounds offered.
