will you guys allow me a minute to rant? I just spent the past three hours working on one seemingly simple task, and that is attaching my throttle cable to the servo and adjusting it so that the throttle opens and closes fully.
My frustration is primarily with the throttle cable itself. This little piece of crap seemed to foil my attempts to make it do anything that I wanted. Whenever I tried to insert it into the eylet for the connection to the servo, a few stray wires would seperate from the main shaft, preventing me from getting the cable all the way through. I would snip them off, and they would continue to unravel all the way down the lenth of the cab...so I had to snip them off. Now I have burs of the remenant threads all along the shaft of the wire and now..guess what. It is binding inside the throttle tube! You've got to be kidding me. The burs are catching on the inside of the tube preventing it from moving. I tried everything I could think of. It seemed that if I even looked at the end of this cable....the end would instantly split and fray into a million little threads. Long story short...I have to rip out this stupid cable, and try to find some sort of alternative. I thought I might get to fly this thing sometime soon.....but little problems like these continue to creep up on me. It's official...I'm tired of building and ready to be done with this plane.
I'll bet you are glad you got that out of your system. A Sullivan Goldenrod also makes a great throttle cable, it's figerglass/carbon fiber (depending on which one you buy) and can go around obstacles fairly easy.
If you want to use a wire cable what I learned to do was drop a little solder on each end but only enough to hold the strands together and not enlarge the cable itself
