RE: Building a DraganFlyer - need to mix speedcontrollers - HELP
Guys,
here's a couple of things to think about. weighting the tips of the propellers can cause stress on the blade hubs and when a weighted blade comes off a blade hub it will do a lot more damage. It will also cause it to vibrate if it's not perfect, which leades to blade failure. it will also decrease motor performance by adding load. however, if i were to make something like a circular steel weight and mount it to the shaft, it could provide some stability, though it will still reduce motor performance.
spinning weights no matter what will increase motor response time meaning that any other means of stabilization become less effective. also, you may have noticed while playingaround with a gyroscope that if it is forced off the axis it is spinning on, such as when we force control, it generates a side force and wants to spin like an unbalanced top around it'c CG. this will cause the airframe to flex, and ultimatly you will have motors pointed in directions other than straight up which will cause goofy control. it would be like driving a car with the toe-in out of whack on all four wheels.
gyroscopic stabilization is a great method of stabilization for some aircraft, but when you have four rotors rather than onee, you will find that they will fight eachother and cause a new problem while eliminating the old one.
i am going to order the rest of the props today so they can go out tomorrow. i am getting really sick of this project being idle, but until i have a credit card of my own, i am at my parent's item ordering mercy
Cheers,
