You can use 9 channel radio for tamiya rc tanks.

generally 9 channel radio are computer one, you can switch from PCM to Fm and back forth.

I tried once before, forgot the model number though. then switch to a cheaper one because it did not make sense to have 5 channels left for no use.

anyway, you should be ok. but I suggest you use cheaper radio though.
