This is my first project into the world of electric boats. I recently aquired an AquaCraft EP1 electric motor from the bass boat. The original 27 turn motor was removed and replaced with a higher revving brushed cousin, an LRP fusion phase 5 Vampire. Rewired with 12 gauge wire, everything fits nice and snug back under the beautiful engine cover, with the water cooling setup. The original 2 motor screws and gasket were used. Octura props X430, X432 and X435 fit the EP1 pretty well. I figured I would have to replace the plastic prop and will have to experiment to find the best setup. I recently finished building a wooden Dumas 3.5 Sprint and converted it to electric and put the EP1 on the back. The motor is allowed about 4mm up down movement and can move forward/back and is bolted on with 4 screws. The transom of the Dumas is wood, so I cut out an aluminum transom plate and bolted that on the inside for added security. Plan to run 6 or 7 NiMH cells. The batteries can slide up and down in the Dumas for CG. I placed a 12v cooling fan in front of the esc and have it hooked up to a 9v battery up the front. It works well and I hope I am not doing anything wrong in regards to that setup. I have not had the chance to run this boat yet, but I have it connected. It is as loud as a vacuum cleaner at full power & blows the blinds at 5 feet with authority. It looks the part and I hope it hauls & planes! It is lighter than my .21 tunnel too. Thanks for reading my spiel and I hope I don't burn a hole in my Dumas or EP1. I am old and fragile, so if this has been written before, I apologize, but boaters are nice people.
See ya
Peter
