Default RE: Airtronics Buddy Box Trouble

I used the Airtronics RD6000 and the Airtronics Buddy Box during my training, and still use that combination when others are using the trainer (my trainer with Airtronics components). The buddy box will work with any Airtronics system including, I believe, the Stylus (but who would spend all that money on a first radio). That combination will only allow for basic operation without any of the extra's that the RD6000 has. The only exception to this is if you use an RD6000 with an RD6000 as a buddy box, AND that they are both programmed identically for that particluar model.

Hitec says that it is compatible with the Airtronics, but I've never seen that combination used in training. That doesn't mean it can't be done, just that I've not seen it at our club. In our club, we have sufficient trainer boxes (buddy boxes) for all of the most popular radio types so we don't normally have to go through mixed combinations like Hitec and Airtronics. In fact, when I first got my NexSTAR with the basic Futaba system, I thought we were all set but the buddy box connectors were different. We had the old type (round connector) and my transmitter had the new type (square). They (Futaba) makes an adapter, however, I opted to buy a new Futaba buddy box with the right connector then donated it to the club when I was finished with it. I then changed my NexSTAR from Futaba to Airtronics to support the computer capabilities of the RD6000.
