RE: plane for rimfire
I really love my u can do 3d ep. It works very well with the rimfire. I am using a cc phoenix 10 esc with 3 cell lipo and 9x3.8 prop. i am under 10-15 amps because i am not hitting the overcurrent protection unless i program it to be over sensitive... I do not own an ampmeter. Regardless, do not use the bl8 unless your amp target is less then 5 amps to keep a safety margin and run it on an a watt meter.
I also flew this in a 15.6 oz all up gws formosa. It's not a 3d plane, far from it. But it accellerates vertically with that same prop. My 14.5oz u can do 3d ep would hover at 2/3 throttle. If i am getting smaller capacity 1320's from thunder power. they weigh 60 grams less than the 2100's i was using but are able to provide more amps than i am asking for on either of my planes. Roughly 2.12oz off a 14.5 or 15.6ox plane without power reduction = massive improvement. The formosa is allready a good glider, with brake off it should be able to soar allmost forever at only 13.5 oz. (this plane is allso sold as a slope glider according to the manual) The ucd should hover at 1/2 throttle and slow down to walking speed even with no headwind, it's allready quite the agile staller...
I have a potensky cobra ep in my sights, and a hydro foam when it comes out... both of these would work perfectly with the rimfire. The cobra can be built under 12oz all up, with a 3 cell, rimfire and 9x3.8 it shoud have a near 2:1 thrust ratio!
