If you cooked the cells, they were probably Nimh cells and the charger was Nicad.
no difference... if you are peak charging, there is a small difference, but a regular trickle charger (what he was using) doesn't know or care if they are nimh or nicads... he said they were neither though, they were rechargable alkalines. (why anyone would use those is another question entirely!)
