my first flight.... finally!
well it had been a long hard haul being drill weekend. We were moving our equipment around and there were weapons which still had not been cleaned since the june range fire drill, those needed cleaning, and lots of epquipment checks out side in the heat. sunday night I was bushed. I got home around 5 pm and I think to my self, why don't I go out to the field for a while they are probably just getting started down there. Ohhh wait the plane has not been fixed or batteries charged. so off to the field I go with only a lawn chair under arm to join the others who just watched most of the time. Turns out it was good that I went. now the soccar field behind us will be used on the usuall flying days so tues. flying night went to monday night. good to know I gues.
well monday mornin I started up the batteries chargin and set the plane on the kitchen table to begine correcting some problems. I had the dishwasher, dryer and washer all going at the same time. the power company prolly went and had to warm up another generator because of me, but ohh well its what I pay'em for. well didn't get the front landing gear to quit spining so I just thightened that screw as much as I dared (the mount was plastic so i was care full to not break that.) then I realized that I needed to mark a correction on next drill date so I went to the callendar to do that and realized I had to get to pizza hut in 30min. for a short shift, dang it!! well it was 8pm by the time I got off work, so I loaded up every thing in the car and headed out to the field. it was getting late and they were about to call last calls at the field and the instructor guy saw me "you have 1 flight!! Get ready!!" so I got every thing out, put the batteries in and put the wing on, primed engine and began starting the engine. 3 good whacks with the chicken stick and it was sputering a nother and it was up and running ok.
The instructor informed me that the planes had been haveing trouble in the humidity today so i would have to be carefull because the engines were quiting on every one in flight. [X(] so he gave me the controls and I learned how the mix aleron and elevator to turn and do lazy circles around the field. i got 3 in before the plane began to disapear in the air. that was when they took the tx back and landed it. the nose wheel did not spin around this time and every thing was good. the engine quit on us so we had to go get the plane and drag it back to the pits. now to see if i can make it sat. night.
thats all for now, I have a shoping list for the next time im in the hobbie shop!!
