These are lovebugs (they're fairly tiny, don't let the picture fool you):
They are bit on the ugly side. Do they bite?
Nope, they do not bite, but you definitely do not want to swat them with you hands. Even a good smack in mid air will make a mess of your hand.
Thank god they are semi annual down there in FL and then only in the morning and evenings are they really bad
