RE: 140L rough idle
Dave, I was able to improve the idle acceptably today by "leaning" the regulator.
1. Turned the regulator in, approx 1-1/4 turns leaned in from the stock position.
2. Airbleed screw was turned in (from the 5-1/2 out!) to the stock 1-1/2 position, which worked better than 2 turns out.
3. Obviously I also re-did the main needle and then re-set the idle. Getting 8900-9000 peak on the 18x6 APC. set at 8800 for flying.
Lo idle is 1900-2000 and high idle is 2500-2600. Lo idle lopes, and sounds like tick.tick.tick.tick.BAM! tick.tick.tick.tick.BAM! but it does not try to quit any more. It's solid, just not buttery smooth until I move it up to high idle, which is very smooth. Transition from low idle is solid and quick, without the big blast of smoke I had previously. At low idle, the 140L is transmitting the power pulses into the airframe which is magnifying them, so it sounds louder and rougher than it really is, but it's acceptable. I'm usually at high idle, except for landing.
