RE: U Can Do 3D
Yeah.. I have also thought about using ailervators. Sounds kind of fun.
Some of the mixes I have setup are rudder to aileron to correct for knife edge roll coupling, rudder to elevator to correct the pitch to the belly, throttle to rudder to correct for the flat firewall and no right thrust, aileron diff to correct adverse yaw during rolls, throttle to elevator to give a straight downline so it will not go to the canopy when you try to go straight down and you throttle down. All of these together make it fly like a complete different plane. There is lots of information on the rcu and at futaba or horizon site (jr). I know all of these can be done via hardware and probably used to be back when you were doing it, but, man.. with these new controllers.. this stuff is just easy.
Also as you get into it.. I have decided today when doing 3d with about 45 degree throws and trying to do harriers, walls, waterfalls, and even prop hang... 100% mix of elevator to aileron to add spoilers is a must. Everything is smoothed out in 3d flying imo. The waterfall litterally did not move down at all from what I could tell.. the walls were sliding instead of going up.. I could do a loop with full elevator and it would "slip" the entire way and fall right into harrier.
Once the correction for ke flight was all fixed and my throttle to rudder mix for lack for right thrust was fixed it made my rolling harriers and rolling circles a LOT easier.
Sorry for such a long winded reply.. I wish someone had told me about all this stuff a long time ago. I am probably much to excited. Just got back from a great flying day learning a lot of new stuff. Not that I am awesome, but, I can do it all when I am lucky.. ha. And when it goes right I just bet a huge sense of accomplishment. Long ways to go. I love this hobby.
Let us know how your maiden goes!! Welcome back.
