ENOUGH already.
It's NICE for YOU that you live near a DRY LAKE BED and can fly anyplace you want. Unfortunately, myself and many others live SEVERAL THOUSAND MILES from any DRY LAKE BED MODEL AIRPLANE PARADISE and fly off of pretty tenuous spots that can be lost at any moment, like the field where I am going today, just down the road from Giants Stadium, in New Jersey, stuck between a wildlife preserve and factories, that we don't own and could lose any moment. Nice to know that YOU don't need a stupid stinking club or any stupid rules, but WE DO, in order to keep what little we have.
Also, I don't think you have been in this hobby that long, have you? Probably not long enough to have lost a really nice airplane to some other idiot switching on his transmitter. THEN you start to appreciate a more organized club environment. Or you have not been scared by an airplane zooming BEHIND you while you are trying to fly...you know, little things like an organzed flightline that come with a club. On and on and on...

At any rate, whoopie for you, you have a dry lake bed, you can do whatever you want.
The rest of us can't so stop disparaging clubs and all these other people, I think you need to mature a little and then see why most people do belong to a club and enjoy it. Are there sucky clubs? Hell yes. But the vast majority of them are great.
Hey ET-

Seems you might agree with him if you didn't live in the armpit of the country. Hope you can find more time to go to your upstate retreat.
