That is fine for just flying around in knife edge. And maybe for knife edge loops.. although harder. But.. when you start doing things like rolling harriers or slow rolling circles.. it is a fight to even do those things let alone get them to look nice, smooth, and even. I guess it depends on what level you want to fly, but, the more advanced you get the more you need the plane to fly right. I am sure if you were good enough you could win the toc with a ucd, but, it is a lot easier if you have the right plane... and even easier still if that plane is set up right. I don't want to even do the toc, but, the point is.. I want to try some of the more difficult moves without fighting it the whole time.
how good you are dosent mean how much work the radio does for you.. granted some people love it that way.. I have been flying that way for 25 years.. i have tried mixing and its just not my thing.. it actually messes with me instead of helping since the feel is not there. I have no problems with slow rolls. and rolling harriers and KE square loops without mixing.. but its all in what you get used to...
