Default RE: Lanier Razor 3D

Hi Face,

My Razor is long gone. It snapped into a funky barrel roll if I even looked at the elevator. I turfed it twice due to its bad habits. The first was repairable, the 2nd totalled it. Good riddance!

For fun, here are the details of the crashes:

1) I waited to long to recover from a mesmerizing inverted flat spin. Realizing my mistake, I neutralized the sticks, let the nose drop and applied power along with elevator to pull out. Instead of pulling out, I got a really nice double-barrel roll with the 2nd one ending in a pancake into the ground. Damage: Broken prop, motor mount and a flattened landing gear.

2) I was hovering at about 10' and attempted to transition into a harrier. As the nose started to come down I fed in a little elevator along with some throttle and it did another wonderful snap barrel roll. I almost almost saved it, though! I found myself inverted but parallel to ground with about 3 feet of altitude and dropping fast. I went WOT and pushed up on the stick and what do you now? Yep, another snap barrel roll of doom! This time at full throttle! Damage: Let's just say I have the last 10" of the tail and that's it.

The Razor is an excellent plane, mine was just cursed. I bought it used (actually got pretty much ripped off my an RCU seller) and it had issues I later discovered. Namely the wing had some poorly made repairs, cracked sheeting and had a very slight warp on one side. I've since replaced it with a Goldberg Matrix and absolutely couldn't be happier. It's everything I was hoping the Razor would, and should have been. My Razor was around 5.75lb's. It was cursed by the previous owner that had torn out the firewall, the landing gear deck and performed poor surgery to the wing.

I agree with you on the rudder pitch-coupling. It makes knife edges a little wierd to get used to.
