asp .91 problems... please help!
fly guy it's been a while since your post, are you still having troubles?
I just finished tuning my SC .60 today, it ran like hell for a while, untill i found the low speed needle (thought it didn't have one at first ) and kept cranking it in, almost 4 turns. the high end is 1 & 1/4 out. sounds like you're flooding the hell out of your engine. especially since raw fuel is coming out of the muffler.
put the high end at 1 1/2, and put the idle screw in one turn to start with, start it up and get a fast idle, advance the throttle semi-slowly, and if she coughs and sputters the idle is still too rich. put the idle screw in 1/4 turn and start her up again, repeat untill you get a smooth transition from idle to full throttle. if the idle is too rich it's hard for the engine to accelerate.
for the high end, take it to full throttle for about a minute then drop it to idle, if it runs on for a while like an 85 escort, then drops down to idle, it's too rich, if it stalls it's too lean. get a good spot then out 1/4 turn so you don't lean out when vertical.
I just learned this from one of the older guys at the club, then burnt a 1/2 gallon getting it right, just educated trial and error. the engine will run great once you get her tuned. there's another thread here about adjusting the spraybar on a supertigre .91, might be worth a look since they might be the same carb.
